Best treatments for chronic fatigue syndrome
There are many
treatments for chronic fatigue syndrome. A doctor has to properly
diagnose that a patient is suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome,
since most of the symptoms of chronic fatigue are also the symptoms
of some other disease. There is a possibility for the patient to
get treatment for the disease instead of the chronic fatigue. Hence
proper diagnosis is to be done before starting any treatment for
chronic fatigue. The chronic fatigue patients would be having very
limited physical activity when compared to the normal person. Hence
physical exercises which are simple are also recommended for the
patients apart from the medications that are given.
Low dosages
of anti depressants are given to these patients as a part of the
treatments. The dosage of anti depressants is much lower than prescribed
for treating depression patients. Anti depressants like Adapin,
Sinequan, Elavil, Etrafon, Limbitrol, Norpramin, and Pamelor are
given to treat chronic fatigue patients. These are given to them
to improve sleep and to relieve mile pain. These anti depressants
might cause side effects like dry mouth, weight gain and increased
heart beat rate. Chronic
fatigue patients are found to have increase anxiety in them. To
treat such anxieties they are given Anxiolytic agents like Xanax,
and Ativan. To treat exaggerated nervous system problem in chronic
fatigue syndrome patients Klonopin is used.
Some of the
side effects of using such medications are abdominal and muscle
cramps, vomiting, sweating and convulsions. Chronic fatigue syndrome
patients who have allergy can be treated with non-sedating antihistamines
like Clarinex, Allegra, and Zyrtex. Drowsiness, fatigue and headache
are common side effects in using these anti histamines. Some patients
also benefit from sedating antihistamines like Benadryl. There are
many herbal preparations and nutritional supplements that are found
to benefit chronic fatigue syndrome patients. You need to discuss
with you physician to take such preparations.
