It is best to see an ayurvedic professional before starting any treatment, since most of the drugs have their own side effects. In Ayurveda, this problem is most common in kapha-pitta people who sweat a lot. First the affected area should be cleaned with Tree tea oil, which is readily available in most health food stores. Then prepare a mixture by mixing one teaspoon of aloe vera gel with half teaspoon of turmeric and apply this mixture twice daily i.e. in the morning and before bedtime. This should be carried out for 10 days. If the symptoms persist still after 10 days treatment but with less severity, the therapy should be continued for one more week but once daily. Care should be taken to avoid turmeric staining the sheets by wearing a old socks before bedtime. The skin discoloration may be washed off thoroughly after 2 weeks of treatment.
