A wart is an
intra epidermal or skin tumor caused by variety of viruses. The
wart will be named in the way where it is present. The anal wart
is the one that occurs mainly in the anal area and is flat or elevated
from the surrounding skin. This is also called as Condyloma acuminatum.
Human papilloma virus types 6 and 11 mainly cause anal wart. The
main mode of transmission of this condition is through sexual contact.
This disease will develop in an individual within three months of
infection. Initially it will appear in the pinhead size. The color
varies from yellow, pink or light brown. The affected individual
may not aware of its existence. The reasons for this condition are
immunosuppressant, smoking, using oral contraceptives, having multiple
sexual partners, and an early coital age. Most of the affected individuals
do whatever ways they know to treat the condition. Preventing the
occurrence of this condition mainly lies on the individual who is
sticking onto the monogamous relationships. Sexual abstinence among
the people who is carrying this condition helps for prevention.
The anal wart
treatment method depends on the individuals preference of
medicines. Electrocautery or surgical removal is preferred when
the individual developed internal anal wart. In surgical removal
the recurrence rate is much reduced. The area around the wart may
be observed daily for six months in order to avoid recurrence. Laser
surgery is another technique, which is costlier and also the area
where the wart is. The drugs, which contain natural proteins such
as interferons, can be used since it contains antiviral and antitumoral
effects. Local applications of podophyllin or trichloracetic acid
in the initial stages also holds well in containing the infection.
A new drug, 5-flourouracil (Adrucil, Efudex, Fluoroplex) may be
used to prevent recurrence. This drug can be used only after the
wart has been removed. Moreover the treatment should be initiated
within one month of wart removal. The cured up individuals should
be very careful to prevent recurrence of the warts by having follow-up
checkups every few weeks after their initial treatment.
