warts lies mainly on the method in which the medication is applied.
Numerous medicines are available surgically, medically and naturally.
A proven product for controlling the infection is DERMISIL®
W derived from melaleuca alternifolia, thuja occidentalis and ricinus
communis plants. This eliminates all strains of wart including anal
warts. Alpha-terpinene-4-ol, an anti-viral compound found in the
plant extract melaleuca alternifolia, thuja occidentalis, and ricinus
communis is the active ingredient in DERMISIL® W. The topical
application of this gel will act immediately because the extracts
are lipophilic and absorb into the skin and blood stream as soon
as they are applied to the skin. Fluorouracil (5 FU) (Adrucil, Efudex,
Fluoroplex) is one of the ointment used to control anal wart. This
is inserted in the rectum daily for several nights. The outer layers
of the skin then slough off, along with warts.
Warts that appear
inside the anal canal can be removed only through electro cauterization
or surgical excision. This method fetches higher percentage of cure
and lower percentage of recurrence. The warts which harbor the skin
around the anus can easily be handled by applying a new cream called
Imiquimod, which is approved by the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) and can be less irritating than other treatments. Bleomycin
(Blenoxane), a solution should be administered directly into each
lesion through injection by a physcian. This is having more side
effects. Finally, the interferon drugs, which contains Alfa 2a and
2b (Roferon, Intron A), which is to be injected into each lesion
twice a week for up to 8 weeks. Anal warts present in the sexually
active partners should be examined, as a precautionary preventive
measure.
