Details about anal wart treatments
Anal warts are
similar to that of common warts, but are found around or in rectum.
They are single or multiple soft, fleshy, small growths on the skin.
The warts may be sometimes painful and uncomfortable. The general
physician or the dermatologist can easily diagnose the condition
by examining the skin. The dermatologist may put a liquid on the
skin to make it easier to see the wart. An instrument called colposcope
will help to magnify the skin for the confirmative diagnosis. A
sample of skin may be taken to lab for diagnosis. The anal wart
emerges as tiny blemishes, which resembles head of a pin. They can
be yellow, pink, or light brown in color. A Topical application
of DERMISIL® W is found to be very useful in controlling the
anal wart. This product is derived especially from certified plant
extracts that are pesticide-free and are United States Pharmaceutical
grade.
A physician
or the patients themselves can treat the smaller warts around the
anal area with topical applications. A substance made from the cytotoxic
extracts of several plants called as podophyllum resin cures 20-50%.
The physician applies this substance as 20% solution and the patients
completely washed off the resin after 6 hours of application. Podofilox,is
another substance used as topical agent. The patients themselves
at home use this. The efficacy rate is slightly higher than podophyllin.
The anal wart is also being treated with Trichloroacetic and bichloro
acetic acids. These acids are caustic and cauterize the skin. The
irritation is low and the effectiveness is higher than the other
two substances. The usage will cause high incidence of recurrence.
Other topical creams such as Imiquimod cream, 5% 5-fluorouracil
cream can also be used for the control of infection.
